Second Meeting

This information is listed under the 'Spring Schedule' post as well, but here is more specific information about the upcoming meeting on Tuesday, March 17th at 5 p.m.

Second meeting-Tuesday, March 17th at 5:30 p.m. Room 401, Maguire Hall (where most of us have Ivan's class). 'Non-traditional' Social Work paths
Professor Breezer Rickey will be hosting a discussion session of her experiences after graduation in community organizing, international social work and other 'non-traditional' social work arenas. This should be a nice addition to the first meeting's discussion around the job climate, and will hopefully give us more ideas for paths after graduation.

We hope to see everyone there! Please let Corinne Fetter or Laura Vermette know if you have any questions.

Policy Fellowships

So the job market is crazy, as those of you who heard Cam speak a couple weeks ago know how challenging it is out there. One idea I had that may make sense for some people would be to seek out fellowships in policy. There is a great PolicyFellowship posting board at Kaiseredu.org that lists a ton of them. For example, there is the Illinois Early Childhood Fellowship that lasts two years and pays relatively well. Check it out, maybe you'll find something interesting. Or you could always go work at the White House.....
